Jul. 20, 2020 – In this episode the girls finish their discussion of the book “The 5 Love Languages of Children” by Gary Chapman. They kick off the episode talking about the RECEIVING GIFTS love language and share why this is an important language to each of them. They give examples of how they’ve felt when this love language wasn’t met for them and then move into how children can show and receive this language. Lauren gives the example of her daughter Evelyn and how she’s a natural gifter which is a sign that she herself speaks this love language.
They then discuss the ACTS OF SERVICE love language and how to apply that to children. They joke that all of motherhood revolves around serving our children and how it’s just important to take credit for those intentional things you do to speak to a child’s love language. They then share some of Dr. Chapman’s advise and warnings on applying this love language with your child and what ‘not’ to do.
The girls then switch gears and discuss how to identify your child’s love language. They give specific ideas and methods that Dr. Chapman points out in the book and how they can be applied at different ages (from baby to teenagers!).
Closing the show with their hits and misses, Sarah shares her hit of stocking the fridge with healthy foods and Lauren’s miss of keeping her room clean!
