Mar. 1st, 2021 – In this episode, the ladies sit down with a good friend of Lauren’s who had 3 of her 4 children at home with the help of a midwife. Lauren Pew is a mother to 4, trained doula and a mother who was seeking a better experience after her 1st delivery in the hospital. Lauren shares why she chose to pursue an at-home birth and the learning path that it sent her on. She recommends a few of her favorite books on the subject and walks the girls through one of her at-home experiences. She talks about laboring in the bathtub & shower, how the delivery went, the pain management methods she used and how it was such a bonding experience for her and her husband. Throughout the course of the episode, the girls ask many of those practical questions you’re wondering – “How bad does it hurt?” “Were you anxious?” “What’s your backup plan?” “What happens to the placenta” “Does the midwife care for the baby” “Did you tear?” Lauren does a wonderful job of sharing her honest insights and both Sarah & Lauren came away having learned so much about at-home deliveries and natural childbirth in general. Our Friendship From The Beginning (& How the Podcast Has Affected It)
This is a sweet tasting smoothie that only has 310 calories – perfect for a quick breakfast on the go!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 banana
1 apple
2 cups baby spinach
1 cup water
1 cup ice
*any add-ins (I usually add in collagen powder protein, chia seeds and flaxseeds to mine. For the kids, I will add in a chocolate or vanilla protein powder and chia seeds)
DIRECTIONS:
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Add a little water if needed to make it easier to blend.
This is a super easy smoothie to throw together that’s only 210 calories!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup frozen mixed berries (like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
1 large apple
2 cups baby spinach
1 cup water
1 cup ice
*any add-ins (I usually add in collagen powder protein, chia seeds and flaxseeds to mine. For the kids, I will add in a chocolate or vanilla protein powder and chia seeds)
DIRECTIONS:
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Add a little water if needed to make it easier to blend.
This is an easy, detox smoothie that is only about 240 calories! Great for a meal replacement.
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 banana
2 cups baby spinach
1 cup ice
*any add-ins (I usually add in collagen powder protein, chia seeds and flaxseeds to mine. For the kids, I will add in a chocolate or vanilla protein powder and chia seeds)
DIRECTIONS:
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Add a little water if needed to make it easier to blend.
